Throughout the planning and running of this wonderful event, Melanie and I have come to know a number of children who have bravely faced challenges upon entering the world. This page is for their parents to include us all in their challenges and successes. These children and these stories are our inspiration. Please read on;

Caden Williamson

Caden was diagnosed with hepatoblastoma, cancer of the liver, in September, 2007 at 6 months of age.  The tumor was on and in his liver and was the size of a softball.  Caden immediately started chemotherapy.  After four rounds of chemo the tumor reduced to an operable size and on February 1, 2008 the tumor was removed along with 76% of his liver.  Before the surgery we were told that Caden would be home in 7 – 10 days.  Little did we know, Caden was in for the fight of his life.  Caden was in critical care and constant care for many weeks.  He contracted numerous viruses and infections including e-coli and c-diff.  After a courageous fight and numerous surgeries, Caden was released from Sick Kids Hospital on March 26, three days before his first birthday.

Caden means little warrior and our little warrior fought a great battle.  Today his prognosis is excellent and he is on his way to recovery.  Caden’s positive spirit and attitude have been an inspiration to his family and the doctors and nurses at Sick Kids.

I would like to thank everyone for their prayers and generosity which truly helped Caden, myself and my family through this challenging ordeal. - Ryan Williamson, Caden's Father
